Abstract:

Detailed analyses and comparisons of unconventional designs for nano-technologies aiming to minimize power without compromising on reliability. These fall under custom designs taking steps towards the theoretical limits of energy efficiency. As fabrication at the nano scale is not an option for us, the approach we will use is through extremely accurate modeling of the novel co-designing power-reliability techniques we propose. We expect to identify and confirm ultra low-power schemes robust against both noises and variations, and consuming at least one order of magnitude less energy than any other designs.

Abstract:

In this project we propose to study here one of the solutions to post-quantum cryptography, that will probably be used by all Internet users in the long-term. This proposal in motivated by the recent advances in Quantum Computing, and by the standardization process initiated by the NIST for quantum secure public key cryptography. Major actors from the cryptographic and cybersecurity community emphasize the urgency of moving towards quantum safe cryptography, reason why we will analyze the security of most promising code-based encryption schemes.

This project has two major objectives: firstly, to determine and analyze other types of weak keys in state-of-the-art encryption schemes, and secondly, to cryptanalyze, using more efficient algorithms, code-based encryption schemes based on algebraic codes such as the binary Goppa codes, the Reed-Muller codes, or the polar codes. In order to achieve our goals, we propose to study the problem of code equivalence for the aforementioned code families and use the latest formalisms for describing polar and Reed-Muller codes as Decreasing Monomial codes. We will use various techniques such as, squaring, puncturing, shortening, and test our arguments by developing scripts using the MAGMA software.

The outputs of this project are the following: a better understanding and knowledge regarding the security of the schemes, articles regarding the security of these protocols published in proceedings of International conferences and journals, and presentations of our results at national and international conferences.
