Abstract:
The aim of the project is to investigate Hopf algebras related to category theory, representation theory and combinatorics, as well as some problems in these areas that require the use of Hopf algebra techniques. The specific research directions of the project illustrate once again the ubiquity of Hopf algebras and the usefulness of methods related to them in very different research areas, but they also reflect a part of the present scientific interests of the members of our team. The project continues 3 previous IDEAS research projects. The scientific objectives and research directions are: 1) Investigation of the coactions of some classes of Hopf algebras on certain algebras; 2) Braided monoidal structures versus bimonads in monoidal categories; 3) Homological properties of incidence algebras and algebras associated to categories; 4) Properties of crossed products; 5) Secondary (cyclic) cohomology for algebras; 6) Combinatorial (co)algebra structures and applications. The team consists of 7 experienced researchers (S. Dascalescu, D. Stefan, D. Bulacu, M. Iovanov, C. Nastasescu, F. Panaite, M. Staic) and 3-4 junior researchers (PhD or MSc students), which will be involved in joint research activities; thus the project will strengthen the Hopf algebra group in Bucharest. International cooperation will be developed by scientific visits abroad, attending conferences and visits of foreign experts to Bucharest. We expect that our results will be published in high rank journals.
