Ovidius University is a public higher education institution established in 1961, in the city of Constanta, on the Black Sea coast of Romania. In 1990 it became a comprehensive university, with study programs in diverse fields, ranging from medicine and life sciences to applied sciences and engineering, from social sciences (including economics and law) to humanities and arts. The fully accredited programs offer diplomas recognized internationally at all levels of study (bachelor's, master's and doctoral). With about 15000 students (of which 1200 international) and 1100 academic and administrative staff, the university is the largest higher education institution in the European Union at the Black Sea.
