NIRDPSB was established in 1967 with thematic coordination of 5 research and development stations for potato and 4 research stations for sugar beet. The main objective of the Institute was to create resilient potato and sugar beet varieties and to produce biologically superior seed material for potato, sugar beet, medicinal plant and grain crops. The results of the research activity have also materialized in numerous innovative technologies specific to these crops. Approaches in the plant field were complemented by a laborious activity in the domain of animal selection in cattle and turkey species. The activity of the Institute was also supported by accessing and carrying out research projects. The results have materialized in over 40 patents, over 1500 scientific papers.
