Abstract:
The present project represents an original approach, from an inter-, pluri-, multi- and transdisciplinary perspective of the 6th domains - Patrimony and cultural identity. Through the structure of the consortium, the management of the project, the objectives proposed by the component projects, through the synergies and complementarities obtained, undoubtedly presents a high degree of feasibility, being a sophisticated, integrative and exhaustive approach for Romania. Its results will have an impact both on the national and international scientific communities, but also on the broad public, contributing through the proposed activities to the consolidation, development, and improvement of the RDI system in our country, and indirectly to the training of the future specialists from the Romanian research.
The final goal of the project is to create a complex interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary platform for integrated and systematic research of tangible and non-tangible cultural identities and heritage in Romania.
The consortium that will implement this complex project is coordinated by the University of Bucharest (CO-UB), in partnership with the "Vasile Parvan" Institute of Archeology of the Romanian Academy (P1-IAB), the National Institute for Research and Development for Physics and Nuclear Engineering " Horia Hulubei "(P2-IFIN-HH)," Al. I. Cuza "University of Iasi (P3-UAIC), West University of Timisoara (P4-UVT), National Institute of Research and Development for Material Physics (P5-INCDFM), the "Ovidius" University of Constanta (P6-UOC) and the University of Oradea (P7-UO). The way of geographic distribution at the level of Romania ensures a good regional representation of the legal entities represented within the consortium in this project. The combination of five universities and three national research institutes is the ideal combination to support and implement such a complex project.

Abstract:
SMARTER (2013-2017) is an interdisciplinary network of experts currently involved in the control of ragweed, health care professionals, aerobiologists, ecologists, economists, and atmospheric and agricultural modellers. More than 120 participants from 33 countries are already participating in SMARTER. SMARTER provides a forum for discussing long-term management and monitoring options and the development of new innovative management solutions, such as a synergy between biological, physical and chemical control measures and vegetation management, and assess their cost-effectiveness in mitigating the effects of invasive alien species.

Abstract:
PREVALLERG project has the purpose to elaborate new prophylactic and therapeutic methods for allergic patients with respiratory diseases, based on a monitoring algorithm and by setting prevention procedures for exposure of aeroallergen sensitised persons. The theme is of national interest because allergic respiratory diseases are a major health problem worldwide, with dramatic increase of prevalence in the last decades, under the circumstances of major environmental changes and growth of aeroallergen sensitisation ratio. The project aims to solve a complex problem (the role of allergens in the pathogenesis of some respiratory diseases), to create the mechanisms for implementation of prophylaxis measures, to develop new therapeutic tools and to monitor asthmatic and/or allergic rhinitis patients, in order to optimize the prevention methods and to improve the public health system. n Romania there are no monitoring and prevention programs for allergic respiratory diseases and no exact data regarding the regional distribution of aeroallergens. As we noticed the growing trend of allergic respiratory diseases, in Romania should be also introduced new prevention methods at European standards. In order to set up a procedure for the better control of the disease, a study will be conducted on a pilot group of patients with asthma and/or allergic rhinitis, based on an IT system with a dedicated software that can be extended all over the country in order to integrate the results and to establish a standard for Romania.
To elaborate an evaluation algorithm based on a minimum number of tests there will be periodical clinical and functional evaluations, observing the dynamics of direct markers of allergic inflammation (specific IgE serum level, serum IL-4, IL-13, vs. IFN-?, NO in exhaled air), indirect markers (PC20 to methacholine), and rhino-manometeric tests. The main aeroallergens in the indoor environment and the airborne biotic particles will be identified for analyzing the dynamics of air pollen and its seasonal variation, creating annual pollen calendars for drawing a map of aeroallergens in the west of Romania.
