Abstract:
The primary aim of the ESCALATE project is to assist universities in implementing activities designed to increase the levels of digital competences for employability, upskilling, according with a growing range of employment generated by the digital economy, aligned with the needs of and opportunities offered by the labour market and linked to professional profiles.
The project has two linked objectives. Firstly, to help universities understand the scale and depths of the challenges they face from digitalisation - to enable them to formulate effective policy and education system governance - by developing and making freely available new methods and techniques in digital skills acquiring, foresighting and forecasting. We will explore the state-of-the-art before developing and testing the new materials across 6 major themes. Secondly we will trial the potential of a new innovative practice (a Digital Skills Escalator) across a selected region in each partner country to test its potential as a mechanism for both identifying where there is unmet demand and subsequent need for new digital skills provision and as a means of building a more holistic offer from education providers. The results will inform a new training course which will be offered through the ENRLMM - the self-financing European network recognized by the European Commission as expert within this field.
The specific objectives are:
1. To understand '"university disruption" at regional and local levels and the threats posed to universities and labour market from digitalization;
2. To identify who are the educational institutions and organizations involved and what innovations can be employed to help understand and tackle digitalization impacts;
3. To elicit more effective local and regional higher education institutions' responses to digitalization across Europe.

Abstract:
The specific aim of the STSM grant was to develop a joint quantitative study/report on migrants’ integration into EU host economies (most targeted by migrants according to recent data from the European Commission, OECD and UNHCR, namely EU-10: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Italy and Spain). We particularly focus on the benefit spillovers for the two countries involved in the STSM, namely Serbia and Romania, aiming to extrapolate factors which can foster or complicate similar process in the future, since these countries are currently confronting with large emigration flows into EU-10 (especially Romania). Thus, a deeper understanding of migration determinants and effective integration measures/policies could prove to be extremely beneficial for the two countries in their migration challenges.
In a broader perspective, the project’s general objective is to bring together researchers on economic and socio-psychological integration of immigrants that can exchange ideas and develop a common project/ study, since the application fosters collaboration between the two researchers and associated research institutions in Serbia and Romania for studying international migration/ immigrants’ integration.
