Abstract:
The goal of HEALTHYSEED project is to develop new functional food products that contain valuable nutrients from grape seed oil, grape seed flour and various sprout extracts. The project aims: i) to exploit the potential of grape seeds, as a source of valuable components such as unsaturated fatty acids, polyphenols and dietary fibres; ii) activation and sprouting of selected seeds (amaranth, alfalfa/red clover) to improve nutritional properties: digestibility of plant proteins; conversion of carbohydrates to simpler forms for easy assimilation; bio-availability of minerals; significantly reduction of phytic acid levels (an antinutrient), freeing up minerals for absorption; increase of beneficial enzymes; and iii) encapsulation of these ingredients as a mean of protection of nutritionally important compounds and targeted delivery.
Encapsulated grape seed oil, sprout extracts and grape seed flour obtained under optimal conditions will be incorporated into adequate products: snack rolls, snack balls, nutritional snack. Hence, in final products, we will provide health-promoting bio-ingredients, with desirable stability, targeted release and bioavailability. Nutritional and energetic value of new functional textured food products will be established.
This project will include variation of encapsulation methods and parameters and characterization of the obtained encapsulates in order to evaluate/improve the encapsulation process itself.
The project is oriented to obtain such products that not only satisfy energy and basic nutritional need of human organism, but also provide certain protection against diseases related to modern lifestyle.

Abstract:
IFFA will bring to market high quality functional food products with anti-inflammatory properties. The core product is a novel ‘fermbiotic’; a fermented product based on pro- and prebiotics and bioactives. Functional drinks containing the fermbiotic, along with other health-promoting ingredients, will be developed. Additionally, the fermbiotic will be formulated into a food supplement. Via this range of products different customer segments will be targeted, ensuring a broad impact. By providing consumers with novel products containing fermbiotics, IFFA will contribute to reducing negative health effects of inflammation, thus increasing overall health. The novel fermbiotic, the key ingredient in a food supplement and in functional drinks, will be developed through solid-state fermentation of mustard seeds and seaweeds. The fermentation will be optimised to obtain a product with the highest possible bioactivity, which will be quantified using cellular assays. Metabolite profiling will be used to correlate the anti-inflammatory properties with key compounds.
The bioactive peptides will be prepared from bee pollen, an existing product which will be optimised in terms of enhancing its digestibility through hydrolysis. Intake of low-GI carbohydrates is a current trend, but current products are mainly based on corn starch. Development of low-GI carbohydrates from alternative sources will thus be an incremental development.

Abstract:
The complex project propose the development and demonstration of innovative technologies to optimize the biogas plants by integrating the open ponds for microalgae cultivation using the digestate resulted from anaerobic digestion as a culture medium. The integral valorization of microalgae biomass consists in: obtaining of algal extracts (for co-digestion), lipid fraction (for biofuels) and spent biomass (co-digestion substrate); advanced separation and valorization of biogas by carbon dioxide conversion to biomethane; biorefining of the solid digestate and lipid fractions obtained from algal biomass into biochar, fuel components, bitumen fluxes, biohydrogen and liquefiable gaseous fractions. As results of this project will be: a demonstrated technology at TRL 6 level within the biogas-microalge integrated and an experimental stand for the evaluation of biomethane and liquefied gaseous hydrocarbons combustion efficiency and emission control.

Abstract:
The project aims to develop a concentrated phytotherapeutic product based on synergistic mixtures of medicinal and aromatic herbs with antiparasitic/antifungal activity, immunostimulants and taste stimulants to control nosemosis and stimulate the development of strong bees colonies by increasing resistance to infections and implicitly reducing the parasite attack, which, under temperate climate conditions, adversely affects the production capacity and survival of bee colonies.
The fhytopreparate has an original composition containing: essential oils extracted from 7 plants from the Lamiaceae (hyssop, sage, lavender, origanum), Lauraceae (cinnamon, bay) and Myrtaceae (cloves) families; stimulants of bees natural immunity (aloe juice, vitamin B5); essential oil of lemon balm, rich in geraniol and citral, which mimics the action of the pheromone produced by the odor gland, and stimulates the activity of feeding too. Essential oils contain, in high concentrations, monoterpenes and phenols with proven antibacterial, antiparasitic and anti-inflammatory properties, or possibly inhibiting the development of microsporidias.
The phytopreparat components will be evaluated and selected based on the ingredients palatability for bees, toxicity and efficacy and will bring value and functionality to the product.
The success of the organic antinosema natural, innovative product lies in the optimal formulation of a synergistic essential oil – immunostimulants-taste stimulants composition, with appropriate ingredient ratios experimentally established, with a. antiparasitic/antifungal activity, reducing the incidence of mortality during the winter; b. stimulating immunity-the development of strong families.
The proposed formula will be an original one, it will not contain alcohol and will not harm neither bees nor bee products, being administered in bees feed.

Abstract:
Eggs are complex foods rich in nutrients, but because of high cholesterol content these are considered restrictive. Changing negative perceptions of consumers on eggs and their health benefits is a challenge.
The project aims to develop a new type of table egg with a new functionality based on a high content of antioxidants represented by carotenoid pigments biosynthesized by carotenogene yeasts and oligoelements added and having sensory qualities accepted by consumers. This new type of egg will be obtain by feeding laying hens with feed compounds containing carotenogene yeast grown on a substrate represented by an agro-food by-product accepted as fodder, supplemented with various compounds of trace elements, which will be found in biomass. The new type of table egg will have two qualities: rich in antioxidants and trace elements and a pigmented yolk, which corresponds to European consumers' preferences. By incorporating micro-nutrients in biomass ensure its better absorption.
The antioxidant properties of carotenoids consist of neutralizing singlet oxygen (1O2) and other activated forms of oxygen ("free radicals") such as OH•, H2O2, eliminating adverse effects on biological structures. Carotenoids effectively reacts with free radicals of peroxide-type preventing oxidation of lipoproteins and maintaining the integrity of cell membranes. Carotenoids from eggs are better absorbed than from vegetables because of fatty acid profile of yellow egg, which contains cholesterol, triglycerides and phospholipids, fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E, increase the bioavailability of carotenoids.
The new type of table egg will have much greater quantities of carotenoids obtained by biosynthesis, and trace elements than standard eggs.

Proiectul urmareste realizarea unui produs functional pe baza apei minerale medicinale Valcele (comercializata in tara si in strainatate), imbogatita cu fibre alimentare aglutenice, competitiv pe piata interna, ca produs de nisa adresat persoanelor cu celiachie, dar si consumatorilor interesati in asigurarea unei diete optime. Fibrele alimentare adaugate si compusii fiziologic activi existenti in apa medicianala vor constitui, prin consum, o sursa de sanatate.
Studiile nutritionale sustin ideea ca o dieta bogata in fibre alimentare, care sunt polizaharide neamidonoase (arabinoxilani, celuloza, dextrine, inulina, lignina, ceruri, chitina, pectine, betaglucani) si oligozaharide, nedigerate sau absorbite de organism, este asociata cu scaderea factorilor de risc corelati cu bolile cardiovasculare, diabet, cancer si obezitate. Avand in vedere ca aportul zilnic de fibre recomandat de US National Academy of Sciences pentru adulti este teoretic, in medie, de 20-35 g/zi, produsul propus va spori cantitatea de fibre alimentare neasigurata zilnic numai prin ingerarea legumelor si fructelor.
Apa Valcele este printre putinele ape medicinale autentice, feruginoasa, hidrocarbonatata, calcica, magneziana, carbogazoasa.Compozitia bogata in saruri minerale o recomanda in tratamentul afectiunilor tubului digestiv, ficatului, cura de diureza, manifestari artritice, anemii.Prin imbogatirea ei, in proportii optime, cu fibre lipsite de factor alergen (gluten), arome si indulcitori naturali se va obtine o bautura cu o consistenta, textura si gust special, ca alternativa pentru nutritia oamenilor din punct de vedere al aportului zilnic de saruri minerale si fibre.
Obiective propuse: realizarea analizelor fizico-chimice si microbiologice ale materiei prime, stabilirea mai multor variante de bauturi functionale; selectarea si realizarea variantei avantajoase din punct de vedere organoleptic, nutritiv si economic; stabilirea metodei de conservare si a modului de ambalare/comercializare.

Abstract:
Proiectul se refera la valorificarea zerului (rezultat, in cantitati mari, de la prelucrarea laptelui in branzeturi si cazeina) sub forma de bautura naturala 100%, fortifianta, rehidratanta si reechilibranta pentru o nutritie sportiva moderna care sustine efortul fizic prelungit.
Zerul reprezinta 85-90% din volumul laptelui prelucrat. La o productie mondiala de peste 10 milioane t brânzeturi, rezulta 85-90 milioane t de zer cu proprietati nutritive mari datorita continutului in lactoza, apa, proteine, minerale, grasimi si vitamine. Se apreciaza ca valoarea alimentara a 3 kg zer este echivalenta cu cea a unui kg de lapte, valoarea energetica fiind de 795-1046 kJ/kg, functie de continutul in lactoza.
Proteinele din zer au o valoare biologica superioara proteinelor din ou, soia si cazeinei din lapte continand aminoacizi esentiali ramificati (leucina, izoleucina, valina), care stimuleaza caile intracelulare specifice asociate cu biosinteza proteinelor din muschi.
Valorificarea acestui produs se impune nu numai datorita compozitiei valoroase ci si pentru ca deversarea lui polueaza mediul natural, consumul biologic de oxigen fiind 50 g/l la zer comparativ cu cca. 0,3g/l al apelor reziduale evacuate de centrele urbane. Irigarea terenurilor cu zer duce, in timp, la o mineralizare excesiva, iar ca hrana pentru animale nu este eficient din punct de vedere economic, 1kg proteina realizându-se din 1,7t zer.
Pentru valorificarea zerului sunt cautate diferite alternative, acest subprodus putand fi utilizat in proportie de 100% prin recuperarea tuturor substantelor utile din compozitia sa.
Furnizorul de servicii propune urmatoarele obiective: realizarea analizelor fizico-chimice si microbiologice ale materiei prime (zer dulce, zer acid); stabilirea retetelor si fortifierea bauturii pe baza de zer; selectarea si realizarea variantei avantajoase din punct de vedere organoleptic, economic si nutritiv; stabilirea metodei de conservare si a modului de ambalare/comercializare.

Proiectul de cooperare bilaterală internațională româno-moldavă cu titlul: ,,Sisteme microalgale utilizate pentru reducerea emisiilor de CO2 de la fermentatia biomasei” are ca obiectiv general cresterea eficientei energetice a instalatiilor de biogaz/ecologizarea proceselor de fermentatie enzimatica alcoolica prin reducerea continutului de CO2 din gazele rezultate, prin utilizarea unor culturi microalgale.
Strategia de implementare a proiectului vizează îndeplinirea urmatoarelor obiective specifice:
O1. Cresterera randamentului de biogaz cu un continut ridicat de CH4 prin utilizarea unor noi biocatalizatori in procesul de digestie anaeroba;
O2. Reducerea continutului de CO2 din gazele rezultate in urma proceselor de fermentatie prin utilizarea unor sisteme microalgale;
O3. Valorificarea biomasei microalgale cu scopul de a obtine biocompusi utili si utilizarea biomasei algale epuizate in procesul de digestie anaeroba.
