Abstract:
The RENplusHOMES project, Horizon Europe type project, accepted for financing in 2023, is the first project that brings together interdisciplinary work teams in the field of electricity, construction and installations, within the Energy Transition Research Center (EnTReC) of the Technical University of Cluj -Napoca. The project has a number of 22 partners, and a total budget of approx. 6 million EURO for a period of 3.6 years. The project aims to develop a generally valid methodology for Energy Positive Houses (residential buildings that present a surplus of energy from renewable sources), to facilitate the transition to a climate-neutral future. In order to create holistic buildings with positive energy, RENplusHOMES will develop and/or upgrade key technologies within the pilot sites of the project, with a high degree of replicability and sustainability. Testing and validation of the solutions in the UTCN pilot site will lead to the increase of the university's visibility, as well as to the increase of the sustainability of UTCN's participation in projects with European funding.

Abstract:
UTCN assumes an ambitious objective within this project: the development of new renewable energy solutions, capable of expanding flexibility and self-sustainability potential of buildings: geothermal wall and photovoltaic panels - obtained from recycled panels - that also fulfill the function of shading. Testing and validating these solutions at the project level will allow their large-scale implementation. An increased visibility for UTCN, as well as an increased participation of UTCN in projects with European funding are also expected outcomes.

Abstract:
EnTRAINER aims to introduce a paradigm shift from conventional energy audits to a new, holistic and complete
methodology of “Energy Transition Audits” (ETA). With this new approach, the main focus is to provide a multi-benefit
scheme and a complete action plan towards full decarbonization of the audited sites.
EnTRAINER comprises partners with a long-standing cooperation and energy audit experts, and will focus on energy
intensive industries in 4 South-East EU countries (EL, RO, IT, ES), which are lagging in the implementation of energy
audits compared to other EU regions.
The holistic methodology of EnTRAINER includes training elements, in the form of 2 accredited courses for energy
auditors and energy experts and 1 course for company staff. It also includes a sophisticated web-portal, with 4 new
and upgraded tools, freely offered to energy professionals, and a training platform and knowledge hub that will allow
a continuous interaction and knowledge sharing between participants. A further element is the support provided to
those industrial sites to actually implement the proposed audit measures, aiming to bring together top management and
financing bodies and in addition to guide them to take advantage of existing and future funding opportunities.
The project will provide preliminary energy scans in 80 energy intensive industries, and then based on certain maturity
criteria, perform 40 detailed direct ETAs. The results from these ETAs will act as lighthouses for other industries of the
same sector, by using the knowledge hub. EnTRAINER will train 240 Energy Auditors, and in this context, will trigger
another 40 indirect ETAs through the interaction with external energy auditors. Moreover, it will train 240 energy experts
that may become the future energy transition auditors, and 400 company staff including key decision makers.
EnTRAINER actions will trigger 16 M € investments, 4.75 GWh primary energy savings and 5.16 GWh renewable
energy generation in total

Abstract:
In 2019, the RE-COGNITION project was approved for funding, this being the first project in which the TUCN research team leads a work package (WP). The level of funding is in accordance with the importance of the assumed scientific role. The RE-COGNITION project is built through the contribution of the TUCN team as a continuation of the actions and results obtained in previous projects, which attests to the ongoing concern to quantify the research-dissemination experience.
The actions carried out by TUCN for the implementation of the Horizon 2020 project, RE-COGNITION, (1) will lead to a better visibility of Romania as a partner in European projects; (2) will have a significant impact on the integration of renewable energies, decarbonization, energy efficiency and the energy management at local communities level; (3) will allow the development and consolidation of a customer-focused business plans, which will effectively exploit the potential of the solution proposed in the project, in several energy markets in Europe.

Abstract:
Re-assessing some hypothesis, according to the last results in the field, represent the starting point in our effort of improving the methods of solving interference problems between high voltage power lines (HVPL) and metallic underground gas pipelines (MUGP). This project aims to develop a hybrid method (that combines electric field and circuit computations) that models the right-of-way between HVPL and MUGP and computes induced currents and voltages in the pipeline. Using data obtained with this method and stored in data-base, the project will use artificial intelligence techniques to implement some new solving solutions for the interference between HVPL and MUGP. The novelty brought by this project consists in combining alternative solutions, based on artificial intelligence techniques developed in a Main Fuzzy Bloc, that will identify the parameters that define specific functioning regimes (based on a set of laws) and will call the solution or the solutions that can solve the specific electromagnetic interference problem. In order to test and validate the general solution, we will choose a set of concrete interference problems between HVPL and MUGP that will be solved with our method and the result will be compared with in-situ measurements. Then, we will develop some technical solution to decrease the corrosion phenomena in the electromagnetic environment by attenuation of induced voltages in the MUGP. A set of theoretical and practical researches will be conducted in order to design a device for protection and controlled suppression of induced currents inside a MUGP by a HVPL with which it shares a right-of-way.
