Abstract:
The research project aims to model the current and future terrain suitability for the main crops in Romania, considering both
current climate and its predicted future evolution under 2 greenhouse emission scenarios. For this purpose, the project will create a high resolution GIS database for the entire country, comprising the soil, relief and climate parameters which control land suitability for crops. The soil parameters will be mapped using various geomatic methods (statistical, machine-learning methods, fuzzy classifications) and the best spatial model will be selected for each parameters based on independent sample validation. Spatial modelling will start from a consistent point soil database and high resolution predictors. The climate parameters will be extracted from ROCADA database, for the current period, and from CHELSA database for the future period and they will be downscaled to a higher resolution by geostatistical techniques. For land suitability evolution, we will apply the current standard Romanian methodology (ICPA, 1987), using both current and predicted climate data, resulting the probable evolution of land suitability. We also will attempt to improve the current methodology by deepening the climate suitability evaluation and by testing alternative methods of suitability parameters' aggregation.

Abstract:
The main purpose of this project is to provide an integrated platform for large scale soil mapping and land resources management designed specifically not only for soil surveyors, but also for agricultural stakeholders. Through this platform, the soil surveyors can easily access various spatial layers representing different soil forming factors (lithology, terrain features and properties, climate, land use/cover, vegetation, hydrology) and ancillary soil data (soil profile characteristics, chemical and physical analyses, soil units properties, etc.) to help them produce more accurate soil and land suitability maps. The resulting data and maps will automatically update the geodatabase so they will be available for future use. Also, through web mapping applications, the agricultural stakeholders can access valuable information regarding land characteristics in terms of soil properties and quality, which enables them to take better decisions and properly manage their farm.

Abstract:
LIFE-ADVICLIM project aims to study climate change adaptation and mitigation scenarios for a range of vineyards which represent the climatic diversity of European wine regions.
The LIFE-ADVICLIM project will develop climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies which can be adapted to European wine regions, and demonstrate their application at the vineyard scale. The project’s measurement network and web platform will enable wine producers to assess the impacts of climate change on their plots, simulate adaptation scenarios, and measure the greenhouse gas emissions related to their practices. These technologies
are being tested on demonstration sites in five European vineyards regions: Cotnari, Rheingau, Bordeaux, Sussex and Val de Loire, thanks to funding from the European Life programme.

Abstract:
The aim of the project is to increase technological performances in grapes and wine production of the VIILE BUDUREASCA Company by: differentiating wine growing technologies depending on the potential of the homogeneous viticultural zones of the area and by the wine-grape varieties grown; differentiated winemaking depending on wine-grape varieties and by homogeneous viticultural zones, in order to obtain wines with a terroir character and constant sensory profile from year to year; popularizing the terroir wine concept through the marketing strategy in order to strengthen the reputation of Budureasca wines and the loyalty of consumers. Within the project will be evaluated and mapped the viticultural potential of the area by using a GIS-based methodology, and will be delimited the homogeneous viticultural zones that produce relatively similar wines from one year to year.

Abstract:
VINICOLA AVERESTI 2000 SA Company holds within the Avereşti - Huşi wine growing region 560 ha vine plantations and a 1.8 million liters processing capacity wine cellar. Both components of the vine holding have modern technologies, represented by performant equipments and machineries capable of achieving high economic efficiency of production activities. The advantage given by these technologies cannot be fully exploited due to poor and spatially variable values of heliothermal factors, and also to fertile soils which limits the expression of biological potential of the grape vine varieties grown within the area. The project aims to differentiate and improve the grapevine technologies according to local variation of viticultural potential, in order to obtain regularly quality grapes and wines. For this purpose, the viticultural potential of the area will be assessed and mapped by using a GIS-based methodology and the viticultural homogeneous zones from its structure will be delineated. The wine growing technologies and types of wine production will be adjusted according to potential of the homogeneous viticultural zones. Optimized wine-growing technologies will be complemented by optimized wine-making technologies, improved by implementing modern methods of extracting aromatic compounds and anthocyanins from berries at aromatic and red wine grape varieties. The project provides internship within the vine holding for two masters and a PhD, and six demonstrations of practical works for students in Horticulture specialization during the 24 months duration of the project. The project uses tools of information technologies and will generate a model of efficiency for vine holdings based on precision viticulture methods.
