Abstract:

This project, namely "The Lexicon of Buda (1825). Emended and on-line ready edition", comes forst as an attempt to pertinently recover a remarkable work of the Transylvanian School, as well as to recognize its value, against a long-lasting abandon by the mainstream establishment.

Our project aims to bring to a second life this lexicographical work, as it sets as goal an edition that is both emended and on-line ready, with a search-able text brought to the current orthographical norm. Such edition is to offer pertinent grammatical, lexical and etymological information, and it should become readily available to a large public, specialists and non specialists, and it should prove more accurate, valid and complete than what the Google engine offers. Emending the information in the dictionary and putting it in digital form aims to multiple goals, such as: (1) the material shall be organized in a search-available corpus that will allow specialist the use of multiple search tools, the results being displayed in a linguistic pertinent manner and allowing cross-examination, (2) it will be an well-documented and available platform to a large public, (3) it will recover and promote the cultural and linguistic inherited background.
